Description
Wakefield writes that of a meeting of 65 national agencies working with Japanese Americans, some find that there has been grave concerns of issue and nisei on the west coast who have been deprived of civil rights. They are experiencing problems getting licenses for fishing, driving, being able to work, rent, or get social security funds. Quakers in two quarterly meetings think about how to continue to help, whether to invite a Nisei to a Quaker retreat each year or give funds to rebuild Japan or support Japanese Americans here, issei and nisei. They think about what options are best and try to coordinate with the Relocation Committee on that. One page report from Roy T. Yoshida's letter of Nov 4 1945 describes the situation in Tokyo post war, many homeless and destitute and hungry.
