Kay decides that she will move to Chicago and has resigned from her job in student relocation, despite being offered more pay. She consideres it her moral and ethical obligation to leave and not accept more money. She also believes that a Nisei cannot be the 2nd in charge and knows that some of the leadership is leaving as well. Kay mentions the places and who she will stay with on route to Chicago.
