Description

Tom tells Kay that he does not want to take a vacation because he wants to get a pay raise and the other engineer co-workers are similarly competitive and do not take vacations. He hopes that Chiz will be able to visit Kay, since she wants to. He mentions Ko Watanabe who has joined the Army Specialized Training Program. Tom wonders when Mom (Tomi) will come back. He has moved into a new place and is not as worried about the draft because he thinks his employment is safe. He wants to have a social life now, but does not wante to meet up with his old nisei friends saying, "[I] am against any congregating of Japanese in general"
