Title
1944 9 8 Letter from Kay to Tom
Description
Tom is going to the draft board. Telegram from Dillon S Myer of the WRA says that War Dept. removed restriction on JA students from entering colleges. "War Dept has removed requirement of PMGO clearance for persons of Japanese ancestry attending or employed by education institutions important to the war effort. Students to be accepted at all schools on same basis as any others." There's no need for the Nat. Japanese American Student Relocation Council except to get financial aid for students. Kay attributes the regain of rights to the 100th and 442nd batallions. President of Swarthmore defends this decision, forcing schools to open doors to JA's without restrictions. Kay is therefore out of a job by end of year. Also, Min doesn't have polio after all.
