Dear John,
Hello! Hope you’ve been in the best of health— I’ve heard how hard you’ve been working out there. Things must be getting better as more and more people are going back to Oakland and vicinity. Guess you’ve seen the Dakuzaka’s by this time. I do hope Mr. Dakuzaka is feeling better now.
I’m not certain whether you know or not about my name. Some know me as Sasaki which is my true name, and some as Hoshizaki which is my step-father’s name and my mother’s. So if you’re somewhat confused, I’m sure you’ll understand the situation now.
Chicago has had a pretty mild summer up to this time, but having a spell of humid heat right now. Today was around 95. I guess you’ve heard that my aunt (Mrs. Yamada) Juen and Tad came out about a month ago. Perhaps Miye wrote you about it. It makes it much nicer for my mother, too.
Best of luck and health to you John. My regard to Lee Mullis, the Kajiwara’s and the others there. Thanks so much for the trouble of taking care of things back there—I know it’s quite a job. My mother sends her regards.
Sincerely yours,
Eiko Sasaki
