Herman P. Goebel Jr, Captain of the Wartime Civil Control Administration in San Francisco writes a letter allowing Kay and "Mrs. Gomi Yamashita" (typo!) to travel through New Orleans to get to Washington D.C. They are allowed to leave Tanforan on May 5, 1942 and get to D.C. on May 14. They do not have to obey a curfew.
