1944 3 14 Letter from Kay to Folks

Dublin Core

Title

1944 3 14 Letter from Kay to Folks

Description

Chiz, Eddie and Kik moved in with Tom and Tomi in Evanston. Min left for Cleveland to meet with some old friends who are on their last furlough (for the army? I'm not sure). Kay cannot wear high heels since Camp, and has warts under her feet. Thanks Chiz for box of clothes etc. Kay believes the draft for JA will take few numbers of Nisei. Therefore student relocation is continuing, and she grants men immediate scholarship ( I guess so they can avoid being drafted).

Drafted JA's are sent to Camp in Florida and then to Shelby.  JA students can qualify for deferment.  Kay spoke at Episcopal Church, and attended a discussion group of a progressive inter-cultural relations group in Wallingford with Mrs. Dorothy Biddle James and upper-class Negroes.  Invited to Pooh Bailey's wedding.  Kay asks if Mom can visit her.

Mech wrote a "say almost nothing letter" to Kay.  She wonders if he's received order to go overseas.
