Tom got a good engineering job. Kay advises that he work hard, ask for suggestions from higher-ups,have a "ready smile," dress nicely. Tomi sent a blouse and dress she made for Kay. Kay sends food and check back to Topaz for Tomi.
Kay is grateful how she was raised to think about money: not stingy. Inquires about Iyo and John. Kay's social life: saw Vagabond Kind operetta, bought season tickets to the Robin Hood Dell, saw "Keeper of the Flame," attended small party with Terry (aka Teruro or Buster).
Alice Abe and Kay Uchida are in town. Kay went to hear Bayard Rustin, a Jamaican-born FOR secretary like Caleb Foote, speak about minority problems of the American Negro in Bryn Mawr. He was pulled off a bus in the South and proposed Non-Violence as a solution.
