1943 6 30 Letter from Kay to folks
Dublin Core
Title
Description
Kay thanks Neich and Mom Tomi for writing her in English. (I suppose that they usually write to her in Japanese). Kay sends back the dress that Tomi made for her, because the pattern is disproportionate to her, "tiny on top and big below." Kay mentions the toll with living with Yosh and Nobu.
Kay thanks Tomi for teaching her how to be thrifty without being miserly. Kay tells about social life: saw Bayard Rustin speak with 3 hakujin, wishes more nisei were socially cognizant. Plans to visit Germantown with Kay Uchida. Her pay is $25.04/week because of a 20% tax from now on.
Kay sends food to Tomi from Wanamakers. Comments on Phillie's minority problem centered on Negro and Jewish people, rather than Japanese. Kay disapproves of Yoshi Hibino's goals of money and power. Kay and Nobu are invited to home of the exec secretary of YWCA.
